Project: FP7 project "TransBonus" (Transport EU-Western Balkan Network for Training, Support and Promotion of Cooperation in FP7 research activities)

The Todor Kableshkov University of Transport is one of the nine partners in the FP7 project TransBonus (Transport EU-Western Balkan Network for Training, Support and Promotion of Cooperation in FP7 research activities) coordinated by the Applied Research and Communications Fund The other members of the consortium are: the St.St. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, FYRM; Automotive center – centar za vozila, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Polytechnic University of Tirana, Albania; Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas, Greec; SenterNovem, Netherlands; Integrated Resources Management Company Ltd., Malta and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Kraljevo, Serbia.

The aim of the project is to improve and promote the cooperation of the EU and the Western Balkan countries in the field of surface transport research and technologies. It will contribute to establishing a network of researchers and universities to increase the scientific capacity of the region. To implement the project objectives, the partners will map the existing structures and summarize the specific needs of scientists in the field of transport, disseminate the good practices and organize training and support in FP7 knowledge, set a Project Lab and promote creative contacts between the academic institutions and SMEs, carry out expert study visits between the WBC and EU partners in order to expand networking between the regions and develop a Roadmap for research capacities and funding opportunities.

TransBonus is a two-year project beginning from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2010. The project managers are Ms Emilia Domoustchieva, MSc and Ms Zoya Damianova, MSc from the ARC Fund. The University of Transport team consists of Prof. Nencho Nenov, DSc, Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities; Assoc. Prof. Dr Dobrinka Atmadzhova, Head of the Department of Transport Equipment and Dr Anna Dzhaleva-Chonkova, the project contact person.
