Project: BG051PO001/07/3.3-01/101 Creating Mechanisms for Internship of students from Todor Kableshkov University of Transport

Participants: The project is implemented by the University of Transport, which is the leading organization and 4 partner companies: BDZ EAD, Metropoliten EAD, BTK AD and Eurosped EOOD.

Funding: The project is funded by Operational Programme for Human Resource Development of the European Social Fund 2007 – 2013. The grant to be received is BGN 79 342. Total eligible costs amount to BGN 95 442, as BGN 16 100 to be funded by the partners.

Duration and milestones for the implementation: The project started on September 1, 2009 and its duration is 16 months. In accordance with the timetable, the project activities will be implemented in the stages: September 2008 – March 2009 and January 2009 – December 2009.

Target group: The target group is 50 students from the Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes in: Technology and Management of Transport, Transport Equipment, Telecommunications and Signalling, Power Engineering and Electrical Equipment, Accounting, Economics of Transport Companies.

General project objectives: - Increasing the employability of students from the University of Transport through quality professional training in real working environment;; - Building long-term partnership between University of Transport and companies to improve the quality of education and practical training; - Raising the prestige of the University of Transport as an educational institution and the partner companies as socially responsible business structures.

Specific project objectives: - Motivating students to participate in student internships - Developing skills and competencies, enhancing employability and competitiveness in the labor market - Involvement of the 4 partner companies as an active part in the student internships - Ongoing dialogue to improve the quality of education and practical training.

Expected project results: - Improved professional orientation and adaptability of the students to the labour market; - Objective feedback from the business regarding the students knowledge and skills; - Increasing the capacity of the companies, the specialized departments at the University of Transport and the Career Center in terms of organizing and conducting internships.
