Todor Kableshkov University of Transport hosted Master Class


The second Master Class “New trends and practices in teaching Russian as a foreign language” took place in Todor Kableshkov University of Transport from 2 September to 3 September, 2013. The event is implemented under “Open File” project, realized by National Publishing House “Az Buki” and Foundation “Russkiy Mir”. The next two stages of the Master Class will be carried out in the cities of Varna and Plovdiv. The “Open File” project, which includes the Master Classes for teachers in Russian language, aims at popularizing the latest achievements and research in the field of the methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language and to promote the useful exchange of experience between the Bulgarian teachers in Russian. Concerning this renowned Bulgarian and Russian scientist and experts, working in this sphere, are attracted to participate in the Master Classes. The Master Class that took place in Todor Kableshkov University of Transport was opened by Mrs. Nadia Kantareva, Director of National Publishing House “Az Buki”. Mr. Nikolay Kanchev, Deputy Director of the Publishing House presented to the auditory the objectives and tasks of Open File project.

Assoc. Prof. Daniela Todorova, PhD, Vice-Rector of Research and International Activities, made a presentation about Todor Kableshkov University of Transport with detailed information about the academic and research process in the Transport University and about the conditions for training and recreation. Prof. Petar Kolev, DSc, Rector of the University, welcomed the participants in the Master Class. In his speech he emphasized that Russian language and culture have been and continue to be well-known, similar and understandable for the Bulgarian people and the teaching in Russian language and literature has long-standing traditions in our country.

Mrs. Jordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Sofia, was a special guest at the opening. She congratulated the hosts on the excellent conditions for carrying out the Master Class and wished successful work to the participants.

Prof. Natalia Kolibina, Dean at the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute in Moscow, had a greeting speech. Prof. Dimitar Veselinov from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and Editor-in-Chief of “Foreign Language Teaching” magazine presented to the audience the main priorities of the edition.
