Todor Kableshkov University of Transport Hosted Tournament “Fiery Arrows”


VTU Todor Kableshkov University of Transport together with Sports Club “Phenix Archery” hosted archery tournament “Fiery Arrows” from 21 June to 23 June 2013 – round of the national championships in the sports calendar of the Bulgarian Archery Federation. Prof. Petar Kolev, DSc, Rector of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport, opened the competition. He welcomed the guests, participants and coaches. The tournament was carried out in several stages.
The first day the children /up to 14 years old/ competed in the disciplines: recurve and compound. The second day was carried out FITA qualifications in recurve and 2x50 in compound for cadets, girls and boys, men and women. During the last day of the competition were the eliminations and finals. Todor Kableshkov University of Transport fully supported Sports Club “Phenix Archery” in the training and competition process in the university sports facilities. Ivan Ivanov, lecturer in sports from Department of Humanities led the competitors of the club /some of them are graduates from Todor Kableshkov University of Transport/. Ivelina Slavcheva was ranked third in recurve in the girls’ category. Velichko Kaykov was among the first eight in recurve in men category, where the competition was very high. Ivan Ivanov needed one point to get the gold medal in men category and was ranked second. In the three age categories in the recurve discipline the competitors of Sports Club “Phenix Archery” took 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the individual competition and first place in mixteam category and second place in boys and girls categories. Thus they become the team that took the most prizes of the tournament.
