Erasmus Intensive Programme RailNewcastle 2013



The Erasmus Intensive Programme RailNewcastle 2013 in the field of rail transport and logistics took place in Newcastle, UK for the second time from 17 June to 5 July 2013. The programme was organized and coordinated by the NewRail Research Centre with the Newcastle University.
The Todor Kableshkov Higher School of Transport (VTU) is a participant and partner in the Programmme with eight other universities in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Turkey and Romania. The participants from Bulgaria included Assoc. Prof. Dr Nikolay Georgiev, coordinator of the IP at the VTU, Dr Anna Dzhaleva-Chonkova, Senior lecturer, and 6 students in the programmes of Technology and Management of Transport, Industrial Management, Transport Economics: Andriana Mihaylova, Hristina Dimitrova, Kristin Kostadinova, Peyo Angelov, Reni Gerginova, Violina Velyova.
The university teachers from the participating countries delivered original lectures and seminars. Under their scientific supervision the students working in international teams developed research project on specific topics in the field of rail transport and logistics.
The students from the VTU presented their projects in a very convinced way showing high level of knowledge and undisputable skills of team work.
After the end of training and project presentations the students were awarded Certificates of Attendance with relevant credits allocated according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
The Intensive Programme RailNewcastle proved again to be an appropriate, innovative and modern instrument of joining the efforts of students and teachers from different countries to increase the interest, knowledge and willingness of young people to develop career in the field of rail transport and logistics.
