Partners in RailNewcastle Intensive Programme in the UK

The Todor Kableshkov University of Transport is one of the ten universities participating in the RailNewcastle Intensive Program in rail transport and logistics, which takes place at the Newcastle University, UK. The project leader is Dr. Marin Marinov from the NewRail Research Center and partners are: University "La Sapienza" of Rome (Italy), Technical University of Dortmund (Germany), University “Politechnica” of Bucharest (Romania) University of Ghent (Belgium), Athens University of Economics and Business (Greece), Technical University of Lisbon (Portugal), Yildiz Technical University (Turkey), Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany). The three-week training for 48 students with participation of 20 teachers is funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission.
The IP was developed based on an innovative multidisciplinary approach that combines different teaching methods: lectures during the first week, development of projects in multi-national groups during the second week, technical visits and thematic workshops during the third week. The last days are devoted to defence of projects developed by students (with corresponding presentations and posters), oriented in eight thematic areas. The program focuses on the growing interest in rail freight and passenger services; logistics, which promotes safer and more secure rail systems as well as the growing importance of European and international multimodal transport policy.
The participants from the Todor Kableshkov University of Transport include six students from the BSc course in Industrial Management selected on the basis of Erasmus principles: Boyka Boneva, Georgi Neykov, Lalka Deleva Nartsis Iliev, Nikolay Alexandrov and Nicoleta Nikolova, and two teachers: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikolay Georgiev and Dr Anna-Dzhaleva Chonkova.
