Knowledge Economy – Student Scientific Session

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport on 16th May, 2012 was held student scientific session “Knowledge Economy”, organized with the support of the Rector, Transport Management Faculty and Business Planning and Project Management Center.
It is not by chance that the session is called Knowledge Economy. The knowledge economy reflects and examines the impact of science development on the economy and people’s lives. The economic development depends and is based on knowledge. The knowledge depends on the level of the education and training in schools and universities. We can definitely call Todor Kableshkov University of Transport a good university, successfully proved in the educational market in the training of transport specialists. According the opinion of the managers of leading transport companies, our university is the biggest academic and research transport center in the country and one of the main objectives of the university is to provide knowledge and skills, adequate to current market conditions and country development.
Prof. Petar Kolev, DSc, Rector of the university greeted the participants in the student scientific session. The development of research activity is part of the university mission and strategy. The Rector expressed his satisfaction with the session, as Todor Kableshkov University of Transport, being an educational institution, has to encourage similar scientific forums. Thus, there is an opportunity the latest scientific achievement to be presented, common problems to be discussed and to exchange experience. As a result the quality of training is increased and thereby the prestige of the university is raised. Prof. Kolev announced the launching of the youth edition of the scientific journal Mechanics Transport Communications, entitled Young Forum. It will publish researches, developed by regular and PhD students. 35 students from BSc and MSc Programmes in Transportation Engineering, Building Structures, Transport Economics and Economics of Transport Companies participated in the student scientific session.

The students presented their projects, business plans and analysis. The developments were distinguished by innovation, rationality and foresight. The students demonstrated confidence, initiative, creativity and team work skills.

The investment in science and its interconnection with the market, business and scientific organizations is of crucial importance during a crisis. The science development depends on applying researches in surrounding environment.
Dear students, you are the ones that build the history of the university, you with your knowledge and skills will actively participate in the future development of the country and society. Strive for future, based on knowledge, since knowledge is the most valuable asset! If you know what you want, you will know what you are searching for. Be responsible, pro-active, defend your positions and follow your dreams!
