Mobilities under the EEA Financial Mechanism Programme

Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein are not EU member countries, but they belong to the European Economic Area /EEA/. Financing various programmes in the field of research and development, education, social policy, environment, consumer protection, tourism and culture, these countries significantly contribute to strengthening cooperation with Bulgaria.

Two mobilities of our colleagues were supported under the Third Call of the Project BG0057 “Development of Reliable Mobility Schemes Using EEA FM Grants” intermediated by the International and European Cooperation Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Science. Assoc. Prof. Rumen Uluchev, PhD, Vice-Rector of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport visited Reykjavik University /RU/ in Iceland and Nadia Dimitrova, Expert on International Relations and Scientific Potential attended Norwegian University of Science and Technology /NTNU/ - Trondheim, Norway. During the visits they were acquainted with the models of establishment, structure, management and financing of the universities RU and NTNU, as well as they discussed the development of future cooperation mainly in the field of Engineering Programmes. Inter-institutional Agreement of student and teaching staff mobility has already been signed with NTNU, while an agreement of wider collaboration with Reykjavik University is in a process of further discussion and specifying.
At the final workshop of the project, the results of all four EEA supported mobilities accomplished by the staff of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport were highly appreciated by Ms Dagfrid Hjorthol, First Secretary of Norwegian Embassy in Bulgaria, and Ms Iliana Hristova, Director of International and European Cooperation Directorate at Ministry of Education, Youth and Science, Project Manager. It was stated that cooperation within the next EEA funded project, starting in the autumn, will be as much fruitful.
